In 1986, Dr. Chris Findlay founded Compusense in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He was inspired by what he saw as a clear demand for computerization of sensory analysis as a tool to accelerate the product development cycle. Drawing on 20 years of industry, research and academic experience, Chris established Compusense with a commitment to promote sound scientific sensory methods delivered in user-friendly software products and exceptional customer service. His dedication to strengthening the field of sensory and consumer science has guided the growth of Compusense’s three business units; Software, Sensory Services and Resources and Support.
Our Clients’ Needs are Our Priority
The Compusense software development team carefully researches the requirements of our clients. We make it a priority to track progress in the sensory and consumer research field. With our own Compusense Sensory and Consumer Research Group as a client, we understand the day-to-day practicalities of running sensory and consumer research. Our software is developed in a robust and sustainable manner. It allows us to build reliable, efficient tools and workflows that assist companies and facilities operating with Compusense systems to effectively deliver timely and valuable research.
We believe it’s essential to integrate our client’s feedback into our software development. That ensures our software is easy to use and requires only a short learning curve—making it a reliable productivity tool. Support from our dedicated team of specialists goes far beyond the operation of the software. We understand the goals of our clients and help them with industry best practices. Whatever the problem, our support team is here to help clients meet their objectives. We have been fortunate to enjoy long term relationships with our users. In fact, our first client is still a client after well over 20 years later.
We have been a global business right from the start. Although we are based in Canada, we serve clients in over 50 countries on five continents and in 25 languages. Appropriate statistical tools are integrated into the software, so every test has a clear and actionable answer. Advice on the best approach to planning experiments, using designs and analyzing and interpreting results is just an e-mail or phone call away.
Our Research Commitment
Collaboration with researchers from around the globe is an important part of Compusense’s mission. We participate in the most significant academic, research and industry societies to assure we keep on top of new methods in research. We have also added a number of our own methods to the tools available for researchers worldwide.
Academic and research institutions can take advantage of our research recognition program. For every refereed paper published during the support contract year using our software we discount the annual support and upgrade fee by 20%. Compusense has provided the Sensory Science Centre at Reading University, UK with a suite of software to support their teaching and research programs. Closer to home, we have given the Human Nutrition Research Unit Compusense software for their joint research program with Food Science at the University of Guelph.
