Measuring the dynamics of consumer perception

April 29, 2026

Temporal sensory methods are used to allow consumers to characterise products dynamically, according to sensory attributes, emotional responses, or hedonic responses. Methodologies are reviewed and their limitations are discussed. Obtaining information regarding the dynamics of consumer perception not only permits investigation of how products are perceived by product users but also opens the possibility of linking individuals’ dynamic perceptions to other data of interest, such as product acceptance and purchase intent.
